Light smoking does not reduce risks of cancer, but actually triples them! After a study that lasted as long as thirty years, researchers from Norway found that those who smoked one to four cigarettes a day almost triple the risks of heart disease and lung cancer. That means the social smoker in you is actually a disease waiting to happen. The study also revealed that the women are at more risk than men, especially when they smoke less than a pack a week. Light smokers also had 50 percent higher risk of catching a disease than non smokers and the figure rose with the number of cigarettes smoked.
Needles to say, chain smokers who consume one pack of cigarettes a day have a higher chance to be victim to a lung disease but slimming down to half a pack does not do you any better. This only goes to prove that half-assing something even smoking can be fatal.
